grand bend beach

Grand Bend Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Ontario. Located near Grand Bend, Ontario (approximately 30 minutes west of London) you will find the beach on the shores of Lake Huron. One side of the beach faces West and offers some amazing views across the lake during sunsets. The other side faces East and has a view of the Grand River. The beach is a long stretch of fine white sand that isn’t overcrowded compared to nearby beaches such as Wasaga Beach or Sauble Beach. In fact, many locals go here instead! It’s also a popular destination for campers during summer weekends and there are various commercial services nearby including bars & restaurants, ice cream shops, and plenty of places to rent watercraft. It’s easy to see why this beach is such a gem when you’re in the area!

What makes grand bend beach different from others?

The Grand Bend Beach itself is pretty unique in that it can be described as both ‘family friendly’ and ‘party central’. The eastern side (facing the Grand River), has a very mellow scene which is popular with families. Close by, there are several campgrounds that offer lots of activities to do including volleyball, mini-golf, and even horseback riding. You can also go on an ATV tour or rent a boat to explore the Grand River inlet.

On the west side of the Grand Bend Beach facing Lake Huron, you will find plenty of chairs and umbrellas to rent, and the party scene is very popular with young adults. There are also designated areas where you can purchase alcoholic drinks during the day (which is why it’s called a ‘party’ scene). During the late evening hours, however (after 9:00 pm), this area becomes an 18+ section only which allows for a much more relaxed environment for adults.
